Co-founder of Independent Shops of Bath, Tim Newark, said:

“….At the heart of it is extremely high rents and business rates. Businesses come and go with increasing frequency because they can’t sustain the enormous overheads. Until that is confronted we’ll continue to have this problem in the centre of the city, but in the meantime, we are backing the efforts of Louise Prynne at the Business improvement District (BID) to fill vacant shop fronts with more attractive window dressing indicating when new exciting businesses might be opening. …”
