A £1.8m fund will support ‘weird and wonderful’ use of London’s streets and public spaces, mayor Boris Johnson has announced.
Aiming to transform use of public spaces in the capital, Transport for London’s (TfL) Future Streets Incubator Fund will support innovative new street layouts submitted by the capital’s boroughs, Business Improvement Districts and community groups.
Some £600,000 will be provided to pilot projects over a three-year period, with two thirds of the cash being reallocated from existing TfL budgets.
‘This fund will spark the imagination of people and organisations across our city. Anything and everything will be considered, however weird and wonderful,’ Johnson said.
